Process
In a pan add poppy seeds/gasagase and fry in a low flame (without burning) to release the aroma and switch of the heat. Grind the fried poppy seeds using a blender and add the grated coconut and small amount of water and further grind to make a smooth paste.
In a thick bottom sauce pan add 1 tsp of ghee and heat in low flame, add the ground paste and sauté for a minute so the raw smell goes, now add water and bring it to boil. Mean while in a pan add the powdered jaggery and melt it using a small amount of water in low flame and remove the impurities if available (Note : do not cook the jaggery and you can add the powdered jaggery without melting it)
When the coconut poppy seeds mixture comes to boil add the melted jaggery and cook it for around 10 minutes. Now add cardamom powder and in a pan roast cashew, almonds and raisins with ghee and add to the cooked gasagase payasa.
Note : if the sweetness is more add water and boil and if less add some jaggery.
